Voices of Youth Count-Volunteers Needed!

Voices of Youth Count-Volunteers Needed!

We are currently in need of 11 Team Leaders and 30 General Survey Volunteers for the Voices of Youth Count on Tuesday, June 7th.

We are recruiting Team Leaders AND General Volunteers for the Voices of Youth Count! As a community, we recognize that we need to further understand young people who don’t have a stable place to call home. On Tuesday, June 7th, Voices of Youth Count will conduct a one-day count of how many young people are without a safe, stable place to sleep in Travis County. We need your help! Travis County will be conducting a count of youth ages 13-25 years old who are unstably housed, couch surfing, doubled up, living on the streets and staying in community shelters. The street count will consist of a Team Lead and Youth Guides with lived experiences. In addition, we will have General Volunteers conducting the survey at designated shelters and other provider locations.

We are recruiting two roles for this count:

  • As a Youth Count Team Leader, you will be escorting youth out into the field, helping them with transportation to predetermined count sites, overseeing materials and data collection, helping manage time and ensuring their safety. You will also be asked to participate in a mandatory Youth Count training on Monday, June 6th between 11AM-1PM at LifeWorks East – 835 N Pleasant Valley Rd, Austin, TX 78702 (Lunch provided!)

If you or someone you know would like to participate and be a Team Lead on June 7th, please register here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9VR73C7 (Please note: the information on shifts and locations are within the registration)

  • As a Youth Count Survey Volunteer, you will be asked to go to a specific provider location between the hours of 9am and 6pm to conduct surveys with unstably housed and homeless youth between the ages of 13-25 years old. The survey is completely voluntary and youth can choose to skip any question or stop the survey at any time. Upon completing the survey, youth will be provided with a $5 gift card, thanking them for their time. An online training will be available for survey volunteers prior to the count. General survey volunteers may register here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9932RV5

**Please register as soon as possible!!**

If you know any youth who might be interested in participating as a paid guide, I have attached a recruitment flyer that you can share/post at your site. Please spread the word!
